The teachings of Oomoto were first expounded in 1892 under its Foundress, Nao Deguchi, and its Co-Founder, Onisaburo Deguchi.
Later, Sumiko Deguchi became the Second Spiritual Leader, followed by the Third Spiritual Leader and her husband, Naohi and Hidemaru Deguchi. Today, Oomoto's divine work is progressing under the guidance of the Fourth Spiritual Leader, Kiyoko Deguchi.
In the following text, Oomoto's co-founders and subsequent spiritual leaders will be introduced, along with noteworthy background information and historical events.
